Sakralinės muzikos valandos Merkinėje
Concert organised in cooperation with the Lithuania-Taiwan Alliance and Merkinės fabrikas
Want to travel to a distant, exotic land without having to leave Lithuania? Come to Merkines' Church. Want to feel the spirit of that land? Listen to its music. Lucky for us, it is being brought from distant Taiwan by the baritone Haoming Chan. In addition to classical music masterpieces, the soloist, together with soprano Salomėja Petronytė and organist Renata Marcinkutė Lesieur, will be performing traditional Taiwanese music originating from the Han and Tang dynasties.
The singer is renonwed artist who have accumulated a great deal of international experience on the world's opera stages. However, the highlight of this concert will be an impressive journey through the musical landscapes of Taiwan. The works by Shen Hsien Liu, Rentaro Taki and Tyzen Hsiao relate the weaving of bamboo, the softness of a mother's hands, the most splendid of flowers, the trials of a wanderer and the love for one's homeland.
According to the soloist, although our countries are distant from one another, the feelings and themes we share are the same. This is evidence that music has no borders, it connects different lands and brings people closer together. This is a musical journey through time and space where different cultures unite into one magical world.
Programme features works by R. Taki, T. Hsiao, S. Hsien Liu, G. F. Handel, A. Dvorak and others
